Hey, I'm Selina. I built Ikigai because when it was my turn to "pick a career," the whole process felt like a bad multiple-choice exam. Every quiz I tried gave me the same vague answers ("you'd be great in marketing!") with zero connection to what jobs actually exist, what they pay, or whether they're even growing.
I wanted something that actually gets who you are— your personality, your values, the stuff that lights you up — and connects it to what the world actually needs. Real jobs. Real salary data. Real growth projections. Not vibes.

The data behind it
Ikigai's matching engine is built on two major datasets:
- O*NET 30.3— the U.S. Department of Labor's occupational database, covering 1,000+ occupations with detailed breakdowns of skills, work styles, interests, and values for each role.
- BLS Employment Projections 2024–2034 — ten-year forecasts from the Bureau of Labor Statistics including median pay, projected growth rates, and estimated annual job openings across the U.S. economy.
Your quiz results are matched against these datasets using personality-occupation fit models, then ranked by real-world viability. No guesswork, no AI hallucinations about jobs that don't exist.
